Child Support Suspension

Ohio Revised Code Section 3123.58

Cause
          • The Child Support Enforcement Agency has ordered a driver license suspension as a result of a default on a child support order, or the person has failed to comply with a warrant or subpoena regarding child support issues.

Length of Suspension
          • Indefinite suspension until requirements are met.

Appeal Procedures
          • Appeal of suspension must be made through the court that ordered the child support payments.

Limited Driving Privileges
          • Petition the court that ordered the child support payments. You are required to submit a copy of a recent noncertified driver's abstract and petition the court that ordered the child support payments. It is up to the discretion of both the court and the child support agency to approve the driving privileges. A journal entry bearing the court seal must be forwarded to the Bureau indicating the action the court took before our records are changed.

Reinstatement Requirements
          • Contact the Child Support Enforcement Agency and satisfy their reinstatement requirements. The Child Support Enforcement Agency will then notify the BMV to release the suspension. A reinstatement fee is also required to be paid to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
