Operating a Vehicle After Underage Consumption (OVUAC)
Ohio Revised Code
Section 4511.19(B)
Cause
An
individual under 21 years of age is convicted of operating a vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Content
(BAC) of
.02% or more but less than .08%.
Length of Suspension
A definite period of three months (90 days) and up to two (2) years under Ohio
Revised Code, section 4510.02(A)(6).
Appeal Procedures
Appeal
of conviction must be done through the court that issued the conviction.
An
appeal for limited driving privileges must also be made to the court that issued the
conviction.
Reinstatement
Requirements: Section 4510.038

1. |
You must successfully complete a remedial
driving instruction course given by an accredited
remedial
driving school, if you are 18 years of age or younger you may complete the
juvenile driver improvement program.

NOTE: |
The remedial driver course must show it was completed after the
date of conviction of the OVUAC violation. |
|
|
|
|
2. |
You must file
FRA (financial responsibility) Insurance (SR-22 or Bond)
if the suspension started before January 1, 2004. Individuals with a
date of offense (OVUAC) on/after January 1,
2004, must provide one of the following insurance types for reinstatement of
driving privileges:

a. |
A copy of your automobile
insurance identification card. |
|
|
|
|
b. |
A copy of the declaration
page of your policy. |
|
|
|
|
c. |
Financial
responsibility
SR22 or Bond, effective for not less than one (1) year from
the ending date of the suspension. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
3. |
A $30.00 reinstatement fee will
be required if the suspension notice was mailed on or after October 1, 1997.
|
|
|
|
4. |
You must retake the complete
driver's license examination. Upon completion of all the
above mentioned requirements, you will be sent an authorization to retest
letter.
