What is the name of Ohio's new standard license plate?

The name of the new plate is Ohio Pride.

Who designed the plate?

The Governor's staff, the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Columbus College of Art and Design worked together on the design. Click here for more information.

When and where will the Ohio Pride license plate be available?

Beginning April 15, 2013 - at any Deputy Registrar location.

Am I required to purchase the new Ohio Pride plate?

No, it is not mandatory to buy new plates. You may continue to renew your existing plates.

If I order a replacement plate, which design will I receive?

If your order is received on or after April 12, 2013, you will receive the Ohio Pride design. However, if you go to your local Deputy Registrar office, you can choose to purchase Ohio Pride or Beautiful Ohio (standard plate only) on April 15, 2013 and until June 30, 2013, or until inventory is depleted.

Can I still get the Beautiful Ohio plate design?

Yes, you can. Customers requiring a standard issue plate (passenger, non-commercial truck and trailer, commercial truck and trailer, or motorcycle) may purchase a Beautiful Ohio plate at any local Deputy Registrar until June 30, 2013 or until inventory is depleted. However, non-standard plates such as farm, church bus, and transit bus will be issued Ohio Pride effective April 15, 2013.

Which plate is considered Ohio's standard license plate?

Effective April 15, 2013 Ohio Pride will be the official standard plate.

Which license plates are currently valid in Ohio?

The Sunburst, Bicentennial, Gold and Beautiful Ohio designs will still be valid license plates.

I would like to purchase or renew a Special Interest plate (Collegiate, Military, Personalized or Initial Reserve). Can I order a Beautiful Ohio special interest plate?

Beautiful Ohio special interest plates may be ordered online at www.oplates.com until April 11, 2013, and purchased at any Deputy Registrar until the end of business on Saturday, April 13, 2013.

If I order a replacement plate which design will I receive?

If your order is received on or after April 12, 2013, you will receive the Ohio Pride design. However, if you go to your local Deputy Registrar office, you can choose to purchase Ohio Pride or the Beautiful Ohio until June 30, 2013 or until inventory is depleted.
* Remember: The Beautiful Ohio plate will be available for sale only at Ohio Deputy Registrar Agencies until June 30, 2013, or until inventory is depleted.

Can I purchase a Beautiful Ohio license plate through the mail?

Yes, if your mail-in registration is received on or before Thursday, April 11, 2013. The Beautiful Ohio design will only be available as a standard license plate at your local Deputy Registrar effective April 15, 2013 until June 30, 2013 or until inventory is depleted.

Why does my Ohio Pride Special Interest (Collegiate, Military or Organizational) license plate look different?

The special interest plate design differs with the slogans (background) faded to allow for a clear view of the specific logo.

I have a Personalized/Initial Reserve license plate which needs replaced, what license plate design will I receive?

If your order is received on or before Thursday, April 11, 2013, you will receive the Beautiful Ohio plate. Orders received after Friday, April 12, 2013 will be issued the Ohio Pride plate.

I have a commercial vehicle to register; can I still purchase a Beautiful Ohio license plate?

You must renew by end of business day on April 13, 2013 at your local Deputy Registrar office.

What license plate design will I receive at the IRP (International Registration Plan) office?

IRP offices will issue Beautiful Ohio until June 30, 2013 or until inventory is depleted.

What license plate will I receive if I renew via OHCORS.com?

Effective April 15, 2013 all online orders made via www.OHCORS.com will receive the Ohio Pride plate.

My current plates will expire on April 5, 2013. I would like to get the Ohio Pride plates…should I wait until April 15? Will I get charged a late fee?

Driving a vehicle with expired registration is against the law and you could be ticketed. We recommend that you renew your current registration on time and after April 15, 2013, visit your local Deputy Registrar to purchase the new standard plate and sticker (additional fees will apply).

I have a Beautiful Ohio standard plate and would like to exchange it for an Ohio Pride military plate. How do I do that?

During your renewal period you can purchase a new special interest plate (additional fees may apply). If you have already renewed your registration, please visit your local Deputy Registrar to obtain your military plate in the new standard plate design, Ohio pride. You will be required to show evidence of honorable discharge.

I really like the new Ohio Pride plate but don't care for one of the slogans. Is it possible to obtain a plate without a particular slogan?

We are glad to hear that you like Ohio's new standard plate design. The creation of the new Ohio plate was a collaborative effort of Ohio residents submitting ideas for what makes Ohio proud. The slogans were selected by an online voting process and we are not able to omit any slogans at this time.

I renewed through the mail and I wanted Beautiful Ohio plates. Why did I receive Ohio Pride?

All requests received on or after April 12, 2013 for processing through the mail, no matter the vehicle type, will receive the Ohio Pride design.
